Mark Evans is a highly overlooked poet who wrote some of the definitive poetry of the 2000's. Evans grew up on the streets of downtown DC and as a child he watched his father's burger joint go out of business causing a rift between his parents and between financial woes and marital problems Evans father had a psychotic break on one of young Evan's birthdays and was commited. With the absence of Evan's father the Evan's family was left to fend for themselves and so a preteen Evan's spent much of his youth walking around the streets of DC trying to make it by. Eventually Ms. Evans found a job as a bank teller in the NoVa area and young Mark moved to the suburbs where he had to make the transition into the normal life of an American teen. Despite all the troubles the young Mark had to go through he loved to write and would always be writing poems and random thoughts on napkins, post-it, used paper-towels. This book is a compilation of writings from Mark's life and gives a unique look and perspective into life in urban DC and the transition and subsequent life in the suburbs. A fascinating read 10/10.Product details
